Blasphemy, A Poem, on Poetry Thursday

20 Jan

You say you love Jesus, and I hear you man
I  have a secret too, I’m a big fan ABBA fan

All that worship is nice but it isn’t for me
You know who I love, that chick Kiki Dee

You talk about faith and how you believe
I once woke up in a gutter with one missing sleeve

You call me immoral, but that isn’t fair
I can’t help I love dancing naked to Cher

Yes, I see it, that’s quite a cool steeple
But have you danced naked to the Village People?

Naked, I know, I keep writing that stuff
Earth, Wind, and Fire! I can’t get enough

I know I’m not perfect and I have my regrets
But right now I want to hear Benny and the Jets

The last time in church, the pews they were full
I left early and rocked out to Art Garfunkel

Yeah, the bible, I’d rather read Kierkegaard
Did you know I dance well and shake my ass hard

What goes on there, do you guys still kill goats?
Yes! I somehow worked in Daryl Hall & John Oates

Are you kidding me dude, you sing in the choir?
And I’m going where? Eternal Hellfire?

Oh, please don’t say that I’m going to hell
It doesn’t exist and you know that as well

This poem is sucking, it’s stupid and lame
But organized religion is sort of the same

Don’t take this all hard, I’m just having fun
We’ll all be skeptics when it’s all said and done

That has to be the funniest thing I have ever read! You my dear friend have to get all this together and create a book. It my not be on the New York’s Best seller list, but I do know of at least 100-200 people who would find it worth $20.00 to laugh, giggle and think about their lives. It all is so relivant to the “Every Man” (or woman)
